Steakhouse 26
Every time we go here they have changed the menus and the format. Now they are re-vamping the entire restaurant. Some of what we had was good, some was jsut ok, they should rething the cocktail sauce, bbq flavor does not work with raw oysters.

During our visit to Delaware my husband and I eat at the Steakhouse 26. We both ordered a steak dinner, everything about that dinner was phenomenal.

The Cottage Cafe'
Why do these restaurants use fake butter and think people can't tell? It makes me sick so i can spot it by smell before I even ate my scrambled eggs. Too bad because the bacon was perfect and a decent biscuit. Also kudos from our table on the tater tots and the veggie option. Cook with real butter and I am there!

This place has gone down hill since last year. I had the scallop dinner. The sea scallops were cooked in some sweet sauce perhaps to disguise the taste (I doubt that they were really scallops). My wife had the fried oysters which looked good but the breading was soggy from water in the plate (???) and the oysters had almost no taste. We will not be returning.

We've had a place in Ocean View for ten years. This is our favorite place, and we go frequently. My favorite dinner entree is the founder, in my opinion, it is the best in the area. Service is always good. If there is a wait, it's typically shorter than quoted.

Sedona Restaurant
I never tried this place until this past weekend. I enjoyed the bar, the staff is so friendly and the menu is not Southwestern, as many people seem to think. I bought a place in Bethany recently, and the staff at Sedona was friendly and informative and answered any questions I had about the area. The Tuna entree was fabulous, and the Caesar was world class. Thanks for welcoming my family and I to the area!

Food was OK Calamari was overcooked, mussels lack taste, soup needed seasoning, bread was great - though I don't choose my restaurants because of their bread. To top this off - when we came in for dinner service the restaurant was nearly empty and we were seated near the server's station which was noisy and then the waiter had a attitude and seemed like he was honoring us with his service. Need some changes before I go back.

Magnolias Seafood Bar and Grill
I have to say that my last experience at Magnolia's, a week or so ago, may be my last experience at Magnolia's. While the food was good, their service was absolutely awful. We had to leave our table several times to try to find our waitress. Worse, yet, management was sitting in a booth right next to us trying to sell their facilities for a wedding and saw the terrible service we were experiencing and only after we left our table for the third time did they try to help with the service. Who needs this aggrevation when you are spending your hard earned, and these days harder to come by, cash?

We eat breakfast here every time we are in Bethany, the service is always on time and friendly and the food is good and priced right. I really don't know what the previous posters are refering to in regards to "Christianity". Perhaps there's a cross on the wall somewhere that you folks take offense to, I'm not sure. Never had anyone preach to us, mention christianity, or try to exorsize our rowdy children. The TV is always on FOX News, not the Christian Broadcasting Network. Go there and enjoy without worry that some bible thumper will pop out to convert you.

If you order the duck breast, order it medium rare or it may be too well done. We were not rushed and really enjoyed ourselves. The chocolate souffle was outstanding. Go! It is worth the trip.

China Express
.Got to have great chinese food and since moving to the Fenwick Island area for sometime now, China Express is the place to go out and enjoy great chinese food when you are in the mood for it. "Z" is the man and he will take care of you and will modify your order anyway you want. Everyone is friendly and they always remember your face and what you like to order. Nothing fancy there just great food and service. Trust me I am used to having great ethnic food having lived the big city almost my whole life. Although I miss other ethnic cuisines very much,I am glad this place is here for us. Just go once and you will be a repeat customer just like us. Did I mention that their prices are way too low for such great food!!!!!

We normally do take out and the food is great. This past July we decided to venture in and the food/service/atmosphere was terrific. We got there right when they opened, so it wasn't crowded. It was clean and they served quickly seeing that we had two young kids with us. The ribs are very good, as are the mashed potatoes, corn bread, brisket. It's one of our favorites when we are in Bethany.

In addition the woman seating people (who I was told is the owner) was extremely rude and obviously overwhelmed despite the fact that it wasn't that busy. The food is only average and somewhat overpriced.

DB'S Fries
The fries are so good, I could eat a large bucket all by myself. Well, maybe not, but I would be willing to try it. I seriously could eat fries from DB's twice a day every day on my vacation. These fries are so good, they could achieve world peace and stop global warming and pay off everyone's student loans. Nothing against Boardwalk, I'm sure their owners are nice people and don't wish harm on them, but I have no idea why anyone would get fries from any place else. So, to summarize, in case I have not been very clear, DB's fries are good. Get some.

Mickey's Family Crab House
Even off-season Mickeys has great dishes. We were just there after New Years 2010 and the Oysters were best we've had this season. And it's a fun to be for the football playoffs. Go Ravens.
Rating: 5   Terry and Vinny. - posted: Thursday, January 14th, 2010 @ 10:34 am

My friend and I were looking for all you can eat crabs kind of late just before the season started this year. Mickey's was open the latest. I called and they said they were open until 10 or when it starts dying down. We got there around 9 and stayed until 11 and they offered us crabs until we were done. They were the best crabs that I have had in quite a long time, and the best ever for all you can eat. Typically you get small and fairly empty crabs with all you can eat deals, but at Mickey's ours were mediums and a couple larges even! And they were all full! They tasted great too! The staff was friendly and we had a very attentive waitress in this very authentic atmosphere. The prices were a little higher than other all you can eat deals in the area, but I think it was well worth the extra $5-10. I can't wait to go back!
Rating: 5   Michelle - posted: Monday, July 13th, 2009 @ 2:54 pm

I have to agree with the last reviewer about the prices getting a little out of hand at Mickey's, but I will note that the same is true throughout much of the restaurant industry and particularly at the beach where the season is so short. However, I do think the food at Mickey's is first rate...I just don't go as often as I once did because of the rising prices and instead often opt for a cheaper restaurant like the Cottage Cafe.

The Fat Tuna Grill
After a brief respite from eating here, the wife and I went here for dinner with another couple over the recent holidays. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the menu had been updated with new and some cheaper items. While we did miss a few of our old favorites, all of us tried new items on the menu and we were all very pleased with the result. I think the restaurant made a very nice adaptation to the current economy.

We used to eat at the Fat Tuna when it first opened. We thought it was pretty good then, but now we are tired of the menu and the prices seem too high. The parking lot is always crowded so it must be a popular place. It is loud inside.

My family(wife, brother, his sister in law and two kids) went to Fat Tuna on 6/14 and was thoroughly disappointed. We had gone two summers before to the outside patio for beers and burgers on a Thursday and had a great time, so we tried it for dinner. My seafood pasta meal was saturated with oil and was disgusting. My wife asked for a grilled chicken meal and it came back fried and breaded. The place was dead and the atmosphere was lacking. I almost forgot. The meals were way overpriced. All four of us were disappointed. I recommend going on Thursdays to their outside patio for burgers and beers, but skip the sit down meal

We just had a great dnner there last night. Have been eating there for years and have always enjoyed it. I believe they prepare the food in advance, from scratch, and then reheat it. It's called effeciency. Had the lasagna, only $22, was piping hot and a huge portion. It was delicious. The tomato crab soup was to die for. Never had a bad meal there, most were outstanding. So I paid $28 for frozen lasagna. speaking of the service - if you do go there DO NOT let them give you a server that cant speak English. they must get a tax break for hiring foreigners. i could hardly understand him and he definitely couldn't understand me. We passed it on our way into town and thought it looked really cool, so our first night in Bethany decided to go there. The food was actually pretty good, but the service was horrific. Not one of us got our complete meal, my 18 month daughter didn't get hers at all! We waited about 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to tell her what we were missing and she just grabbed her head in fustration and asked if we wanted our check. I could understand a couple slip ups, but it was ridiculous! How do not realize an entire meal is missing. It wasn't even that crowded and there were 3 other servers. This place would be great if the service got better.

Its not 5 start but it was a great place to eat that I will return to again and again. My mother loves this place and has been numerous times. CONSIDER This great spot!! FYI read the poor reviews carefully. I think authors may have expectations that are unreasonable anywhere, let alone a beach resort. I made reservations had no wait!! We just returned from a very bad experience at this restaurant - we had checked out the menu and were impressed by the selection and very reasonable prices. We ordered and waited while people who were seated after us were served, ate, paid, and left. The waiter was nowhere to be found - when he finally appeared and we asked what happened to our food, his response was a shrug. Finally we got the food - no butter or sour cream for the baked potato, no tarter sauce for the flounder, no parmesan cheese for the pasta dishes, food lukewarm. No response except a shrug and the food was taken back to be microwaved. The flounder was obviously frozen pieces with nondescript breading. When we asked to see the manager, we were told; 1) The manager was busy handling another problem 2) The waiter who had shrugged away our complaint WAS the manager We finally asked for boxes, paid the bill, and left no tip. Please do not waste your time or money giving this place a chance! There are other restaurants that care about their customers.

Patsy's Casual Gourmet Dining
What do we want when we go out to dinner? A restaurant with a friendly staff. A restaurant with lots of ambiance. A restaurant that uses fresh produce. A restaurant that offers a wide and healthy variety of menu choices. A restaurant that cares about their customers. A restaurant with a kitchen staff that produces GREAT food! In Bethany Beach the restaurant that has all of our "wants" is PATSY'S..! We're from Alaska and have loved the Alaskan halibut at Patsy's! We've also tried the snapper, which they said they get from Key West. Both meals were so delicious! We're originally from the east coast, and when we get back to this area we're SO looking forward to eating at Patsy's again!

Blue Water
Was at this restaurant this summer. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly. Would definatly go again
Rating: 4   Elva Wilmington - posted: Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 @ 3:23 pm

We have been to Blue Water 3 times and have had good meals there each time. I think our major concern with the restaurant is that they don't serve bread or some other "nibble" to eat before the meal is served. We are used to having a piece of bread with a glass of wine before our entree. We are not appetizer eaters because we like to watch our weight and would be filled up before our meal would come. We have discussed this bread issue with each of the 3 waitresses we have been served by and one told us that the owner used to serve bread at his other establishment and people ate the bread and did not order appetizers! I guess this could be said about any other restaurant, but this is the first one that I know of that doesn't give you a nibble to eat while waiting for your dinner. One time we did order bread (which we were told was homemade)as an appetizer and we were very disappointed in it-- too greasy and not very tasty. Successful restaurants like Blue Coast and their other sister restaurants, Fager's Island, Two Seas in Dewey, and even the Cottage Cafe (with their delicious muffins) offer bread and it doesn't seem to hurt their business. With the prices charged at this restaurant, bread or a ""nibble should be served! Don't compromise the good reputation you are building with your entrees by skipping this expected part of a meal and don't insult people by asking them if they want to purchase a side order of bread!!!

This restaurant is terrific! I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living in bethany. The decor is very clean and crisp feeling with blue walls, white accents, nautical tablecloths and wall decorations, and beach inspired candle center pieces. The atmosphere is perfect wether you are looking for a great time at the bar or in the casual dining area. The music was beachy and the perfect volume. The staff was gracious and prompt. I especially enjoyed speaking with the owner's mother. She represents the restaurant well. The cuisine was some of the best i've ever had! The salads and appetizers are delicious. I especially enjoyed the mesclun greens and fresh berries. The fruit and goat cheese are a nice addition to the fresh mesclun and the homemade dressing is light and refreshing. The salad came with a slice of fantastic homemade bread. I also had a slice of the crab and asparagus pizza which my friend ordered. The flavors compliment each other so well and the ingredients are fresh. For dinner I ordered the salmon with lobster asparagus hash. I was pleasantly surprised with the hash which supplemented the flavor and seasoning of the salmon. I also tried a bite of my friends rockfish which was out of this world. Overall, I think these entrees where the best fish i've ever eaten in my life! The fish is high quality and very fresh! The owner/chef strives for 50% food costs and it shows in the quality of the entrees. The servers and hostess are welcoming and friendly so I will definitely return!

Isabella's Pizzeria
Finally got to go here last night for the first time. The wife and I had different pasta dishes which were very very good. Even the bread was outstanding. Unlike other visits to DeFibo restaurants in the past where service has been spotty , the service here was amazingly attentive. We didn't try the pizzas, but those are on the agenda for our next visit. Only downside was they do not yet have a liquor license, but hopefully that will change soon.

The Oak Arbor Inn Restaurant
Went there Sunday on a fluke for the breakfast buffet. After picking up groceries decided to stop. The breakfast buffet was a Whooping $8.95 and was great. Plenty of options to pick from plus and omlet and flap jack station. Would recommend over any of the other inexpensive breakfast options in town. We enjoyed it.

Fabulous restaurant! Elegant setting inside a cute house. The menu has GREAT options and everything is always good. They had a flounder special that was excellent. The Filet Mignon, Crab Cakes, Prime Rib, and Ravioli are always excellent. Even the salads are super good! The staff is also very welcoming, friendly, and efficient.

Armands Chicago Pizzeria
Three of us had pizza there on Sat. Aug. 8 after an extended wait for a table at the Chalkboard. We immediatly got a table outside. The service was fast and the deep dish pizza was great. First and last try for the Chalkboard, however Armands is now on my list for return trips.

I dont know what they put on the underside of their dough (its really crispy) but its amazing, the hours during the week are bad... so far this season. But I have to say I'd much rather eat this than Grottos. My favorite pizza here in Bethany.

Chalkboard Tavern and Grille
Three of us decided to try the Chalkboard instead of our usual Cottage Cafe on Sat. Aug. 8th for dinner. The hostess said the wait would only be 15 to 20 minutes. We said we'd be in the bar. After 45 minutes, while we could see her seating other parties, we checked with the hostess. She had that blank I forgot about you look on her face, then said give her 10 minutes to get a table ready. After another 20 minutes in the bar we checked with the hostess again. Her direct quote was, "The kitchen told me I can't seat anyone else for a very long time." It was like the adults were missing and the juveniles were running the place. We walked over Armands Pizza - never been there before - immediatly got an table outside, fast service and a great deep dish pizza. First and last try for the Chalkboard, however Armands is now on my list for return trips.

We've eaten there twice since the new owners took over. Dinner was okay, but way overpriced. Bar area was noisy. Went for the breakfast buffet....pretty much the worst I've had...even the fruit was canned/jarred and nasty and it was in season although IT wasn't fresh. We'll stick with the Cottage Cafe.

Surf's Up
I've been going to Surfs up for as long as I can remember. Well over 15 years. I'm from the suburbs of Philly and I think they have the best cheesesteaks in the area. Who cares if they call it Steak and Cheese. Where I grew up they did chop the heck out of the steaks and that's what I look for in a cheesesteak; if it's not chopped up, I don't want it. Also I believe they use Amoroso's rolls and I think they are the best. Their pizzas are also decent. I still haven't found the perfect pizza. Some say it's the water....I might be inclined to agree. Their prices are what I pay in the Northern Virginia area for something comparable. I expect to pay a little more in a tourist town. I've always found the help to be great. Sometimes they get to fooling around too much, but when they have messed up a pizza or an order they have always done right by us. We always try to manage a trip to Surf's Up when we go into town.

I'm sorry but I had the worst experience with the customer service. Everybody is packed in trying to figure where the line(s) starts and the service workers are zombies. They did not care nor provided a friendly service. After the wait, my son, who loves Chesse Steaks, says that I make a better one at home with using store purchased "The Philly Steak". Management really needs to re-examine the inner workings of their establishment and the attitude that their workers display if they care enough about their image.

If it weren't for Surf's Up, my two teen-aged boys would starve when we stay at the beach! They love it, and think the pizza is better than anywhere else. Thanks for making this mom's life a little easier whil on vacation!

The Parkway
Always a MUST on our restaurant list for the week. Sometimes we even go twice in one week. Very nice restaurant with excellent food right in town. The staff is also really attentive and friendly. If you like this place you'll probably like The Oak Arbor Inn Restaurant too. It's nice to have some upscale places in town to take a break from the super loud, casual, and busy family dining establishments that frequent the beach area.

John: Thanks for your comments, misguided though they may be. In point of fact, we NEVER let a restaurant know when we are patrons, and because of that there is NEVER any free food or any other feebies involved in our independent reviews. So maybe you should think twice before you post any more uninformed and defamatory comments on matters which you know nothing about.

I get carry out from here when ever I have to get my son a pizza by the place next door. The lobster BLT is the best sandwich I have every had. I am also a big fan of the beet salad. My husband and I have been to all of the SoDel restaurants and this is our favorite. The food is top notch and it is fairly cheap. The wine list is also amazing. Atmosphere is a little bland, but the open kitchen is a nice feature; allowing you to watch the cooks work P.S. when we went two years ago there were two gorgeous cooks working in the kitchen. I am pretty sure they were brothers, but either way they are some nice eye candy and definitely add to the experience at NorthEast

Penguin Diner
AHAHAHAHAH all of you are reallllllllllllly bored. Let's consider the facts last reviewer a party of ten in the middle of high season coming in at an not adventatious time only to have 3 or more babies/kids screaming at the top of their lungs throwing food everywhere only to bitch at the "slow" service. Well first 20 min for food is NOT slow it's actually quite fast, and if you wanted excellent service which by the way is impossible for a ten top try kingston or parkway, which are 4-5 star restaurants which are available to you---oh wait u might complain about the prices so nvm. You have to take this place into context people it's penguin diner not 21 club thank u

I wish that I could say something good about this place since I really love the theme, but the food was terrible. It was cold, and took forever. I've been to a fair # of diners, and never once did I ever have to stand at a register to place my order. We had breakfast, and there were 10 in our party. When we finally received our order, it was cold. We requested butter, we were brought one small pat of butter. We all had either pancakes or toast. It was enough butter for one person. The owner came out and apologized for the delay, but did not do anything to remedy what was a terrible dining experience.

My husband and I use to look forward to going to Mango's. We had quite a collection of little Tiki cups. For the past 10 years it was tradition. Last year we were very disappointed we tried to get waited on at the bar two separate evenings during our week's vacation and no one would wait on us, I guess because we weren't in our 20's anymore. Overall we use to love going to Mango's.

Blue Coast Seafood Grill and Fish Market
Rated a 3 out of 5. The food is good with interesting flavors. Had the salmon and my wife had the seafood stew. Was not disappointed with both presentation and taste. The one thing I will caution you about is the restaurant is very noisy. If you are looking for a quiet place to share dinner with your spouse this is not the place. In fact I wish we sat out on the deck since the traffic from rt 1 was not as distracting as the decibel level inside the restaurant. The service at the bar and table side was good but the noise level left you with wanting to get out of there as soon as possible.

The Bistro at Bear Trap Dunes
I have not had lunch or dinner at The Bistro since the menu was taken over by the Di Febo's a few months ago. However, I did have one excellent Mother's Day brunch there yesterday. All the food was very well prepared and there was plenty of it. The staff was very attentive to everyone's needs. Now, I look forward to returning to try the dinner menu.

I think the seaside grille is a very nice place to eat, the older lady is very good at her job and she is alot faster then the younger ones. the food is good, like their lunch better.
Rating: 4   Nancy - posted: Monday, April 27th, 2009 @ 10:48 am

We live a little north of the Seaside Grill and it is easily the most convenient place for us to go for breakfast, but we drive right on by it on our way to breakfast in Oceanside. Like the previous poster stated, I feel like the staff at Seaside go out of their way to make "summer folks" feel uncomfortable whereas the place we go to in Oceanside REALLY goes out of their way to make us feel at home, even with a couple fussy kids. We visit Bethany year round, and have for well over 20 yerars, and I really can't say I've ever had a pleasant experience at Seaside after visiting them many times. Even though Seaside is significantly closer, the only reason I pull into their parking lot these days is to pick up the morning paper.
